The Cambridge University Advisory was founded by Mr. Eaton in the fall of 2011 at Bronx Lab High School in the Bronx, New York. This Advisory originally consisted of seventeen amazing students from very diverse backgrounds. Today the Cambridge University Advisory continues to strive for excellence with academic performance as the cornerstone of our advisory. With the motto “There’s three things in the world that there’s no excuse for: ignorance, nastiness, and laziness” guiding them, the students of Cambridge University Advisory continue to raise the bar for all students at Bronx Lab HS.
Through team building activities in school, community service, and advisory day activities, the students of the Cambridge University Advisory have learned to respect each other, the Bronx Lab Community, and their local communities. Ultimately, the goal is to develop their social skills to prepare them for life and college.
Through the implementation of office hours, mandatory study hall, and advisor follow-up with teachers and parents, the students of the Cambridge University are consistently amongst the highest tier of academic performers at Bronx Lab. The goal for this Advisory is to prepare and provide each advisee with an opportunity to attend and graduate from college.
A key component to the “development of the whole student” involves students of Cambridge University giving back to their school, local, and global communities. Through service projects, Explorers week, and the Global Explorers program, the students of Cambridge Universtiy have completed book drives, fed the homeless, assisted Iraqi veterans, participated in literacy programs, and painted churches and bathrooms for the Ek Balam Community of Mexico.
